Aug 14 notes

It’s been a month since I last wrote here! Time flies. I went to Cuernavaca, Mexico City, the Pacific Ocean, and back to Palm Springs!

We first spent 5 days in my hometown of Cuernavaca where the weather is gorgeous alongside the food

We then went to Mexico City where we explored some Taquerias, rode on the Xochimilco waterways, experienced a real Pulqueria, ate a range of Mexican dishes, visited some museums, and attended the folcloric ballet (see video below)

We then traveled to the Pacific Ocean to a beach that is somewhat remote and basic: the hotels don’t have hot water, food can take long at restaurants (since it is made from scratch), there is no Internet in the beach, and the beach is virgin: no hotels, no big crows. Just a lot of nature and good-spirited people. It is a great place to go and relax, spend a few days and meditate.

I then came back to California where I have been spending my days going to the pool, riding my bike in the morning before the heat hits

Next week I’ll be heading out to Burning Man for the first time. I’ve always thought it is an archetypical Californian thing to do. I first heard about it when I landed in California in 2015. The director within my team wanted us all to go. Opinions differed within the team: some members thought it was a ludicrous idea, some others were very excited about it.

Throughout the years I kept hearing about people going there, and hearing stories about it. I hypothesize that Burning Man is something you mostly hear when you live in the West Coast. If you’re not familiar with it, Burning Man is an arts and music festival that takes place every year in the Nevada Desert.

It requires quite a bit of logistics: you are supposed to figure out where to sleep, bring your food, bring everything you need for the festival week, bring back any trash, dress funkily, volunteer, etc.

People typically go with camps, and these camps sound like a lot of work. This year, a friend mentioned that his friend was coming over in an RV and I decided to try it out. I don’t know how long will I live in California and hence it felt like it was the right time to try this out.
