I am so proud of you Japan by Haruka Takaoaka

even in this state of complete panic, i hear that everyone is lining up for trains, lining up for cashiers like always, ppl willingly give their seats away on trains to the elderly and expectant mothers—no pushing, no selfishness, no theft, no despoliation.

stores and buildings are calling out to ppl who are walking for miles to get home, offering them free food, free spaces to rest, and toilets.

when a hurricane hit america, they sold a bottle of water for 10 dollars. because that’s how the “economy” works, according to some idiot scholar.

but in japan, we are giving everything we can for free. public phones are now free of charge, vending machines are free, electronic stores are giving away battery chargers for free.

ppl are helping each other get home, pointing each other in the right direction, letting complete strangers in their cars.

everyone is staying polite, thinking of others, and so are not buying or taking stuff more than they need from stores… because we know that we are all in the same situation and suffering together.

I AM SO PROUD OF YOU JAPAN.

I AM SO PROUD TO BE JAPANESE.

WE HAVE A TRULY BEAUTIFUL CULTURE.

media from all over the world are applauding at how neatly the japanese is handling the situation.

i have to say… things would have been worse if it were in another country.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND EVERYTHING WILL BE JUST FINE.
