Back at home for a few weeks. It is always good too be back to the routine (which tends to be understated)

Last week I was commuting back and forth the Bay Area for work. It is always good to meet coworkers in person. While VCs are great, there is some element of humanity that gets lost when all interaction happens online. While I appreciate Meet’s ‘raise your had’ function, it feels a bit artificial to hold a conversation with people lined up to speak. While I was in person last week, the conversation in the room flowed much more naturally as people relied on some physical cues to speak.

A couple of weeks ago, my Brazilian family visited, we explored a bit around and then drove to Arizona, stopping in Sedona and the Grand Canyon. I hadn’t been back to the Grand Canyon in 15 years. It was great to drive through the vast expanses of the West.

We stayed in Williams, and took the train to the Canyon. It is a cute experience to get on a train and explore the Canyon the same way that people did 100 years ago.

Last weekend I drove with a friend north of Frisco, towards Tomales bay. We were surprised by the lack of car traffic. There were however, a lot of cyclists enjoying the abnormally warm weather for this time of the year.

I also got to see some friends and their kids. It is always fun to play with kids, and then put them to sleep. This kid is re-told the day’s story every night: their parents retell all the daily events. I helped them on this, and I found it funny how the kid would spot my lacunae and fill in the gaps.
